It is a privilege for me to welcome you to our website and this digital look inside our school. When you and your child walk in the doors of Sacred Heart, you will experience a positive warm welcoming community of faith, academic success, and the joy of learning.
We are deeply rooted in a tradition of excellence and commitment to the mission of nurturing hearts, inspiring minds, and igniting spirits. Sacred Heart Catholic School was established in 1889 and our current school building was erected in 1960. Currently Sacred Heart Catholic School is the only Catholic School in Shawano County with a rich tradition of providing a faith filled education. Our school has served as a vital ministry of our vibrant and beloved parish, providing an outstanding Catholic education for generations of students in our parish and throughout the Shawano County area through an environment that is faith based, safe, nurturing and focused on learning.
I believe that a Catholic education provides stability for students while growing up and surrounds students with other children who share their conviction of Faith in Jesus Christ. Our school is blessed with a superb faculty and staff who take great pride in their vocations as Catholic school educators. Our teachers work to know each child’s individual strengths and interests, and seek ways to inspire and challenge students from preschool through eighth grade. Working in partnership with our school parents, our teachers strive to help children discover and explore their passions and talents that will make our world a better place.
Our Sacred Heart community is a vibrant resource that our school is both grateful for and extremely proud of. Our parents, teachers/staff, students, parishioners, and alumni all join together in a shared sense of belonging and community. Here, school spirit is contagious! Each child joins a “school family” that participates in community service, volunteer partnerships, attends field trips, and has options to join athletic teams and some after school programs.
Over a hundred years after our school’s founding, we remain full of hope and gratitude for all who have come before us. We stand on the shoulders of heroes and giants of Catholic education and continuing through our Pastor, Fr. Edward Looney, our tremendously dedicated staff, and our alumni, who represent the values of our school through their lives of meaning and service to others. We will continue to provide a quality faith based education grounded in our Catholic values.
We invite you to join us in this mission and bring the gifts and talents of your children and family to make our community an even better place!!
With you in Christ,
Gary Cumberland
School Principal
